HELP KEMI FIGHT CANCER!!!

My name is Oluwakemi Adegbaso, I am 36years old. From Idanre, Ondo State.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing University of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state, I have lived a healthy life since birth up until the year 2022 when I began to experience some discomfort in my throat, accompanied with difficulty to swallow. At first, I thought it was ‘just’ a sore throat or other bacterial infection. Like most people will do, I sought generic antibiotics to treat the ‘infection’. But the pain during swallowing got worse and this painful experience lingered on for weeks.

Early in 2023, things took a downward turn, and my health began to deteriorate, with obvious weight-loss as I could barely eat anything through my mouth. On a visit to a private hospital, a CT-Scan to ascertain the true state of what was going on in my throat was recommended. By and large, I was admitted to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State where I underwent series of tests and medical examinations. Alas! the soul-wrecking bombshell dropped when i was finally diagnosed with OESOPHAGEAL CANCER.

I was referred to a cardio-thoracic surgeon in OAU Teaching Hospital where further tests and examinations were carried out. At this hospital, the surgeon performed a jejunostomy surgery (the opening into the stomach from the abdominal wall for feeding purpose). From that point till date, I have been feeding through the jejunostomy tube. Upon the evaluation of the several test results, I was further referred to an Oncologist in LUTH for radiotherapy and chemotherapy sessions. At LUTH, the oncologist recommended five-week long sessions of radiation and chemo. During these agonizing sessions, I had several complications and multiple blood infusion. This led to the shutdown of my immune system, and further health deterioration.

During the course of my ordeal, I unfortunately slipped into a comma for 72hrs in May 2023, in what I would tag the fiercest battle of my life, as the cancerous tumor in my esophagus was observed to have swollen and blocked my airway, making it impossible for me to breathe, hence I slummed, and was hence admitted into Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Genesis Specialist Hospital, Ikeja, where another surgery was done to enable me breath through a tube in my neck ( TRACHEOSTOMY)

My medical journey has been financially, and emotionally exhausting and challenging for me, my family, close friends, business associates, church members and many others. These 20months of turmoil has drain us financially, thus far, with virtually all personal and family assets sold off in order to raise funds to settle my medical bills at various points and instances.

The spate of the unfortunate industrial actions in the Nigerian health sector has affected the course of my treatments over the months, leading to 2 major life-threatening relapses in the quite infinitesimal progress recorded all through.

On the 15th day of JUNE 2023, the sad news was broken to me on my last visit to the OAUTH, Ife, that my cancer had become life-threatening and as such gone beyond the scope of what could be manage/handled locally, and I was advised to seek medical assistance at better equipped hospitals outside the shores of Nigeria. This verdict has led to my family embarking on a desperate time-bound search for hospitals with reputable Cancer centers and specialist oncologists outside the country that would be willing to accept my case.

Graciously for me, a renowned Specialist hospital in Cancer Care in India accepted on the 17th day of July, 2023, to handle my case, hence my outcry to the good people of my motherland, Nigeria to kindly help me save my life as it ticks away by the hour. A timeline of 30 days (One month) has been issued my family and I to raise my treatment cost.

A total bill of $21,100 would be required for my treatment, while an additional $10,000 would be required for travel expenses to/from, and post treatment care and accommodation in India, totaling N23,779,790.00 (Twenty-Three Million, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Ninety Naira).

I make this passionate appeal to you for your financial assistance with the deepest sense of regard and due respect to the prevailing economic situation and high cost of living in the country. This is a mountain too high to climb for my family alone, as my life is currently hanging on a thread and I need to undergo this crucial Oesophageal Cancer Surgery to live. I do not want die with yet a lot of my dreams unfulfilled. Please help me, I want to live. I have fought this hard these many months to stay alive, but now my hope lies in the assistance of you well-meaning Nigerians.

I pray that the Creator of Heaven and Earth look upon you and your family with mercy, and shower you with so much blessings that you may find a little to spare to save my life and help put an end to this long battle with cancer. May God Bless You!

I AM GETTING BETTER BY THE DAY!!!

Dear All, Dear Friends, I'm here to say a big THANK YOU to everyone, for your kind donations towards my treatment so far. Without your donations I won't have made it this far. Thus far in India, I have been able to undergo CYBER-KNIFE treatment, sessions of IMMUNOTHERAPY and 3 full cycles of CHEMOTHERAPY I’m thankful to God Almighty that I am getting better and better by the day, even though there’s still more treatment and procedures I need to undergo before my SPEECH is restored, and I can be declared CANCER FREE.🤞🏾 As you already know, I’ve been advised to return to  Nigeria, so I can continue my treatment back home, as I’m not financially capable to sustain a continuous stay in India. Right now, I’m in dire need funds to purchase more chemotherapy,  immunotherapy and a few other DISCHARGE DRUGS to return along with to Nigeria. I also need funds to register in a reputable Cancer Centre in Nigeria to continue my treatment on arrival.  I humbly solicit your kind support, do
